    1889年，詹姆斯尼尔获得复合钢的专利权，1909年，他将复合钢的系列产品注册商标“Eclipse”(金牌)，名字 来源于当时英国一匹很著名的赛马，直到百年之后金牌仍然一直成功地占据着行业领先的主导地位。"Eclipse first and the rest nowhere"  “金牌第一和无处不在” 一直是作为尼尔工具产品的营销口号而广为流传。

    1911年金牌制造了世界上第一片的复合钢锯片，公司在1924年开始生产量产型的锯片，时至今日市面上所有的锯片其实都源 于金牌的设计。
